MEET/PARK - Carpark off Lady Denman Drive at the un-named road that leads to picnic grounds and toilet block amenities at Acacia Inlet (YELLOW PAGES MAP 58 F4) or Google Map - (located in between the Rowing Jetty and ACT Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders Cultural Centre). PLEASE WATCH OUT FOR CYCLISTS AS YOU DRIVE ACROSS THE CYCLE PATH NEAR THE TOILET AMENITIES. DURATION OF WALK - Approximately 60 minutes to maybe 75 minutes. WHAT TO BRING - Water for the dogs OPPORTUNITY FOR COFFEE - Bring a thermos or we can cruise of to somewhere... DESCRIPTION OF WALK - Who hasn't walked around the Cork Oak Plantation? This then is an ideal opportunity to experience one of Canberra's hidden attractions. Quite a number of us did this same walk back in 2006 and then again in 2008 we approached the Cork Oak from a different direction (The horse paddocks at Cook) but the weatherman didn't favour us on this walk and we got well and truly soaked. So keep your fingers crossed as if the weather is favourable it is a walk that I know you and the poodles will enjoy. From our meeting point we will follow the shared cycle path (keeping to the left of the cycle path of course) until we cross over at a point on Lady Denman's Drive (which now has the safety of traffic lights) and walk on through the underpasses that eventually lead us to the Cork Oak Plantation. |
